CD/DVD production testing system

The terminal device is used in the production of CD/DVD blanks to detect material or production defects using various cameras and sensors.

For the fast image processing required for this, up to five TI C6414 DSPs from Texas Instruments were used, which had to communicate with the host (PC).

For this purpose, a communication driver was developed for the serial and parallel transmission of prioritizable and packet-based command and video data between the DSPs and the PC.

In addition, a bootloader for a software update and software for the application download from the PC to the individual DSPs was developed for a follow-up order.
